Our Social Responsibility
Cannock Chase Crematorium will conduct business ethically and with sensitivity towards social, cultural, economic, and environmental issues.
We will strive to …
Respect our past
The crematorium is built on the site of the Bleak House opencast coalmine. We recognise that this is an area with a proud mining heritage, and we want to make sure we offer a legacy to the local people who worked at the site.
As people gather to celebrate the life of someone special, they will see images depicting the history of mining in the area.
Source locally
We want to support the community’s economy by employing local people and where we can sourcing from neighbouring businesses.
Protect our environment
The site is currently home to a wide variety of bats, birds, invertebrates and plants. We will continue to develop wildlife habitats through careful management.
All of our working practices will be managed to reduce our carbon footprint.
Some of our charity partners
Working with the local branch of SANDS (the Stillborn and Neonatal Death Society), we have designed Charlie’s Garden for infants and babies. This will be open to everyone who has a young life to remember.
Our staff raise money for local charities and every pound they raise is matched by the crematorium. We give you the opportunity to donate to them when arranging a service.
